The sun had set, casting its reflection upon the greatest of the lakes, the mosquitoes serenaded me and the crashing water lapped up along the rocky shore near Winthrop Harbor.
After the sun has set, the lighting is perfect to create long exposures-the water was actually quite loud but by using a slow shutter speed I was able to eliminate the movement and give the peaceful sense that I felt.
Though I now live on the Northern Great Plains, I’ve spent nine years of my life not too far from where Lake Michigan touches Illinois. On my last visit, I spent this evening enjoying the fading colors across the peaceful waters.
